Maiden Rock is located in Pierce County, Wisconsin, overlooking the Mississippi River's Lake Pepin. Their 2024 ordinance builds on ordinances developed in 2022 by a partnership of five towns including Bone Lake, Laketown, Luck, Sterling and Trade Lake.  

Maiden Rock's Operations Ordinance

CAFOs with thousands of animals are proposing to spread more than 10,000 truckloads of waste each year in the Town. 

Recognizing their responsibility to protect Maiden Rock, supervisors appointed a commission to study CAFOs and operations ordinances. After months of work, the commission drafted an operations ordinance and recommended that the town adopt it. 

Maiden Rock supervisors took written comments on the recommended DRAFT ordinance and held a public hearing on the ordinance. There were no comments made opposing the ordinance. It was passed on December 9, 2024.
